We collect only what's needed to run the platform and keep it safe:
Your display name, bio, avatar, badges, favorites, and followers. You can toggle favorites, work experience, and badges visibility in your profile settings. Advertiser badges are visible only when the advertiser fee is paid.
Your email, password, badge verification documents, identity verification photos, subscription and payment details, support ticket correspondence, and creator earnings data. These are never displayed publicly.
Search history: Your search history is private by default. You can opt to make it public on your profile — only your 5 most recent searches are shown, and older entries are archived. You can clear your search history at any time from your profile.
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited circumstances:
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted passwords, access-controlled document storage, and role-based permissions. Payment information is tokenized and processed by Base44 Payments, which is PCI-DSS compliant. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work hard to safeguard your information and continuously review our security practices.
If you subscribe to our ad-free plan ($3.99/month), we collect and store your subscription status, billing cycle dates, and payment confirmation records. Your actual payment method details — including credit card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes — are collected and stored exclusively by our payment provider, Base44 Payments. Know How never receives, processes, or stores your full payment method information. We retain subscription records for as long as your subscription is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for accounting and tax purposes. You may cancel your subscription at any time; cancellation stops future charges but does not result in a refund of the current cycle (see our Terms of Service for full billing terms).
Know How displays advertisements in the feed to keep the platform free. We do not use third-party advertising cookies to track you across other websites. Ad impressions and clicks are counted in aggregate to report performance to advertisers and to calculate creator earnings. If you are an advertiser, we collect the campaign details you provide (headline, subtext, CTA, destination URL) and display them to users. Advertiser account information and campaign data are visible only to the advertiser and platform administrators. We do not share personally identifying information about our users with advertisers.
Know How uses AI in several ways to enhance and protect the platform:
We do not share your personal documents, identity photos, or private communications with public AI services. AI-assisted decisions that affect your account (such as badge verification or content moderation) are reviewed by our team before final action is taken.
If you submit identity verification, we collect a selfie photo and a government-issued ID photo, along with your legal name, date of birth, and ID type. This information is used solely to verify your identity for account security and badge eligibility. Your identity documents are stored in access-controlled, private storage and are visible only to you and authorized platform administrators. They are never displayed publicly, shared with other users, or sold to third parties. We retain identity verification records for the duration of your account or as needed to maintain verification status, and delete them upon request unless retention is required by law.
Know How is available to users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences (such as video mute settings and dark mode). We do not use cookies for third-party advertising tracking.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Verification documents are retained for the duration needed to validate and maintain your badges, then may be deleted. Identity verification records are retained for the duration of your account or as needed to maintain verification status. Subscription and payment records are retained for accounting and tax purposes as required by law. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within a reasonable timeframe, except where retention is required by law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Know How after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. Material changes will be communicated through the platform or by email where applicable.
